Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche, A taste of England in the Yvelines
My arrival at the Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche golf club on Friday 28th January 2022 provided me with an image that was quintessentially British, the moment made even more vivid by the fact that it was cloudy with a light mist. In fact, there is something quite British about the whole experience, from the way the buildings were decorated to the design of the two 18-hole courses in Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche, reminding us of England and its golf clubs, with its Chesterfield club chair, the chess boards and green felt poker tables, but above all the beauty of the golf course, created in 1959 by the English architect Fred Hawtree.
