Final drive gearboxes for center pivot irrigation systems are one of the most integral components of the machine as they ultimately bear the load of moving the machine through the field. Rugged growing conditions coupled with long annual operating hours and fast irrigating speeds can wreak havoc on final drive gearboxes causing gear wear over time and in some cases failure of the gearbox itself. Gearbox failure equals system downtime and downtime costs money. This downtime as it relates to pivot driveline components is an element that UMC has strived to eliminatesince its inception in 1978. Today, UMC introduces its new Advanced Development 740-U-AD GearboxTM. This is the highest performing final drive gearbox of its class in the industry. It is truly unique and is unrivaled in terms of performance and life at all RPMs. It features new high torque gears made from self-lubricating materials that are capable of much higher load capacities while minimizing gear wear at the same time.The self-lubricating properties of the 740-U-AD also result in cooler average operating temperatures, extending the useful life of the gear oil.Higher load capacity coupled with less gear wear and cooler operating temperatures translates into longer gearbox life and less downtime.
This new product features a 50:1 gear ratio and comes standard with other innovative features such as:
- UMC’s exclusive sealing system featuring cartridge input and output seals to keep oil in and contaminants such as dirt and water out.
- A dual ended input shafteliminating the need to stock right and left hand gearboxes.
- A positive wheel registerto evenly displace load and aid in wheel installation.
- A universal mounting pattern for easy installation on all major pivot brands.
- A full cycle expansion chamber with a stainless steel cover to minimize internal pressure.
