· Context
On 21 September, the European Commission will officially launch the Water Resilience Stakeholder Platform at the headquarters of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and the Committee of the Regions (CoR).
Following a call for applications earlier this year, the Platform has brought together high-level experts and representatives from Member States as members, as well as international organisations as observers, to work with the Commission and the two Committees to support the implementation of the Water Resilience Strategy.
· Objectives of the meeting
The event will be opened by Jessika Roswall, Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy, together with Seamus Bolans, President of the EESC, and Kata Tüttő, President of the Committee of the Regions. The three institutions will be co-chairs throughout the day and the entirety of the Platform's tenure.
The agenda also includes three dedicated sessions on:
-
The operation and future work of the Water Resilience Stakeholder Platform;
-
Digitalisation Action Plan for the Water Sector;
-
Water efficiency

· Practical information
Date: 21 September 2026
Time: 09:30 – 13:00 (CET)
Format: Online
· Recommendation
Online participation in the event would provide an opportunity to learn more about the Water Resilience Stakeholder Platform, the Digitalisation Action Plan with a debate on how to upscale and accelerate digitalisation in the water sector and the guidance on water efficiency targets with an update from DG Environment. We therefore recommend attending.
