Launch event of the European Water Academy

·      Context

Following the launch of the Water Resilience Stakeholder Platform, the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre will organise the launch event of the European Water Academy (EUWA), a flagship action of the European Water Resilience Strategy. The EUWA aims to strengthen skills development, research and innovation in the water sector, support technology transfer, and contribute to building a modern and competitive European water sector.

·        Objectives of the meeting

The event will feature high-level keynote speeches, the official unveiling of the Academy, the presentation of the first EUWA Champions, and contributions from young water professionals. A dedicated business and stakeholder panel will also discuss the conditions and opportunities needed to strengthen the competitiveness of the European water sector.

Please find the draft agenda of the event here.

·        Recommendation

Participation in this launch event would also be interesting for EIA to learn more about the positions of different stakeholders for the entire water sector, especially the business-and-stakeholder panel which will discuss conditions and opportunities for a competitive European water sector. We would therefore recommend attending the event.
