Irrigation scheduling tools for field crops
Optimising irrigation is one way of adapting to the droughts for the 1.5 million hectares of irrigated crops in France. When it is well managed, irrigation can generate an increase in yield compared with a crop that is not irrigated. The benefit is all the greater in a dry climate, when the available soil water reserve is low and the crop responds very well to the application of irrigation water.
