The EIA held its Autumn Irrigation Forum on October 8, 2021

The European Irrigation Association (EIA) organized on October 10 a Virtual Irrigation Forum, followed by its General Assembly.

The Forum this time was dedicated to the themes of sustainability and technological innovation.

Moshi Berenstein, EIA President is adding : “We were very happy to exchange with more than 80 participants from all over Europe and from other continents as well. This responsiveness and the diversification of the attendants motivate us and demonstrate the importance of the role that Irrigation can play in solving one of the most urgent issues in Europe today.

During more than 2 hours sessions, and despite a few technical problems, we attended very interesting presentations whose main themes were sustainable development and innovation.

The Forum began with the president Moshi Berenstein who presented the association and the agenda, then the Communication officer Fleur Martin presented the 7 new members who have recently joined the EIA.

This introduction was followed by the presentation of the 6 Working Groups of the Association and their activities : Sustainability in agriculture, Urban Landscape, Standardization, Training, Wastewater Reuse, Communication. Then, the participants were invited to join one of these Working Groups.

This introduction was followed by 3 presentations of key-note speakers who developed the importance of the sustainability and technology themes to the European industry:

- Mr. Adriano Battilani, General Secretary of Irrigants d’Europe, presented EU water policy - a call for adaptation

- Mr Marcos Pérez Martinez, Phares Ingeniería Áreas Verdes S.L. Spain presented  The best planning for Landscape irrigation systems

Innovation and technology session: Jan Gould, CEO of RDI, presented the RDI  technology. This presentation couldn’t go through because of technical problems. It has been delayed to our next forum, in Spring 2022.

The presentations were followed by an interactive questions and answers sessions and the association's General Assembly.

The success of the EIA Irrigation Forum demonstrates the increasing interest of industry professionals to be involved, to learn and to have more information on European trends in our industry, sustainability, new technologies and water policy frameworks.

As concerns about tomorrow's complex environmental challenges grow, opportunities for experts exchange become increasingly important.

For those who are not yet members, we invite you to join EIA, to promote the continued development of irrigation products, practices and services, and to advocate for sustainable industry standards and water management policies that lead to a stable legal environment for irrigation professionals.
