Commission launches call for evidence on targeted revision of the Water Framework Directive
The European Commission has launched a call for evidence to support a targeted revision of the Water Framework Directive (WFD). The initiative is part of the RESourceEU Action Plan, which aims to secure sustainable access to critical raw materials in the EU by improving resource efficiency, boosting domestic supply, and reducing strategic dependencies.
As a reminder, the WFD aims to protect and restore all EU water bodies (surface and groundwater) to achieve good ecological and chemical status, while ensuring sustainable water use across Europe
