The event, which was held in Bologna, Italy, during the EIMA exhibition, was attended by 60 people representing the association's members. They took the opportunity to meet colleagues in person, raise a toast and pay tribute to our founding fathers during this special evening.
The association's president, Moshi Berenstein (Netafim France), opened the event by welcoming members and guests, and providing an update on market dynamics and the association's place in the evolving European water ecosystem.
'Today is a symbolic day in the life of the association, as we celebrate our 25^(th) anniversary. It's a time to recognise the hard work of the many people who have contributed to the sector, and also a time to reflect on our influence over the last 25 years. While it is difficult to quantify the impact of the EIA, I am confident that we have successfully raised awareness of irrigation in Europe, shared knowledge, and promoted standardisation".
He added, "Today, we recognise that we are a young and dynamic association, with 27 new members joining just this year. We also see dramatic changes taking place in water and irrigation in Europe that we have never seen before. Important changes are happening in water management, and we are responding actively to these needs by promoting the work of the irrigation sector and adapting our businesses to EU discussions on water.'
During the event, in a ceremony involving speeches and trophies, the association recognised the outstanding contributions of eleven of our senior members and past presidents: Bernard Lamy, Christian Rouxel, Michel Histel, Paul Van Breda, Lennart Gorranson, Didier Comte, Olivier Debart, Paolo Felix, Carlo Fontana, Damir Cizmek and Jean-Paul Séchoy.
The cocktail party also provided an opportunity for our members to discuss the evolution of our industry.
The event closed with a call for all EIA members to join forces and recruit more professionals to participate in the relevant working group that matches their skills.
