The impetus provided by the new president Damir Cizmek and his board has been significant. The EIA has contributed to the public consultation on the European Commission proposal for a Regulation on the Minimum Requirements for the Reuse of Wastewater (COM-2018- 337 final), dated 25th May 2018.
The association voiced its concerns regarding the implications that this new regulatory framework will have for the irrigation industry. Following up on this issue, the EIA will organize its 2nd European Irrigation Industry Forum “The proposal for an EU Regulation for the Reuse of wastewater: a missed opportunity?”.
Several irrigation professionals will share their experiences on the issue of the reuse of wastewater and debate the relevance of this EC proposal. It will take place in Bologna on 6th November, a day before the formal opening of EIMA. The Forum will be under the Patronage of the regional government of Emilia-Romagna
The EIA’s main project at the moment is redesigning its website so as to attract more people from the irrigation industry. The EIA website will soon become a reliable and up-to-date source of information for the irrigation professionals, containing technical articles (courtesy of Irrigazette), irrigation research projects and important messages for the industry provided by the EIA members.
With its members representing all professionals involved in the irrigation industry (manufacturers, importers, distributors, dealers, contractors, landscape architects, consultants, private individuals, water and energy agencies, students/universities) in 19 countries, the EIA is able to benefit from a wide range of expertise and experience in its quest to continue with its development.
